The Peculiar Seduction of Scattering Light, Mesa Museum of Contemporary Art 2023
The Peculiar Seduction of Scattering Light are a series of installations that explore the relationship between the machine made/digital technology and the handmade/analog, the sensorial power of materials, and the resulting interactive and imaginative experience for the viewer.
I draw my inspiration from repeating geometric shapes, color, and patterns inspired by propagation in nature to help create spatial compositions that excite the eye and blur the boundaries between sculpture/installation and painting. The layered installations capture and reflect subtle shifts and mutations of light, color, pattern, shape, and reflections, allowing viewers to experience the works from different angles/perspectives and observe new iterations, while evoking memories of encountering nature.

Scattering Light, 2023
Scattering Light is inspired by natural phenomena and is composed of hundreds of round laser cut disks covered with hand cut street reflective sheeting and constructed in clusters to form a cloud like structure atop undulating heat formed grids. The reflective disks scatter and shift the light in different directions, illuminating the structure and creating optical effects and flickering intensity of radiant light as day becomes night.

Unidentified Flying Objects, 2023
Unidentified flying objects is an installation of diamond shaped forms and diamond shaped grids that present a mystery of where things come from, inviting the viewer to contemplate different realities.
